What happens when you put two stars from one of the top soccer teams in the world together on a trading card, add autographs and number it to, say, a generous 65 copies?
Big sales, duh.
The recent arrival of 2015 Donruss soccer cards from Panini America included this dual-autographed The Beautiful Game insert signed by Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Given international distribution, pulling cards like this one might be harder than the serial-numbering indicates. However, that seemingly generous number hasn’t slowed bidding on eBay of late with four sales of the card topping the $1,000 mark.
One sold for $1,500, another for $1,200, another for $1,000 and the one you see above for $1,050.
It’s also not this card that’s selling for beyond the price of a box. In fact, there have been more than 200 completed auctions for cards topping $100 on eBay since its release. Boxes of 2015 Donruss soccer cards aren’t presently expensive — they should be south of $100 — and they include an autograph in every box.
