Russell Wilson was a fourth-round pick of the Colorado Rockies back in the 2010 MLB Draft and he spent two summers in A-ball where he hit .229 with five homers and 26 RBI and 118 strikeouts in 93 games.
Despite that, or thanks to his NFL credentials as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, in 2013 the Texas Rangers claimed him in the December Rule 5 Draft. He has not played an official game since 2011.
Now, he’ll have autographed Relics in one of Topps‘ priciest baseball card brands.
The brand is 2015 Topps Dynasty, and it’s a one-card-per-pack product with every one of them being an autographed patch or a cut signature of a past great.
Wilson will have at least five Rangers Relic cards with pieces noted as being from a signing-worn jersey. The company teased the image above online on Thursday in advance of the product’s Dec. 9 release.
We’ve seen autographed cards of past two-sport athletes such as John Elway and Tom Brady in baseball packs in recent years, so this shouldn’t be too jarring to many collectors. Tell us what you think in our poll below.
