Sales of key 2015 Panini Select soccer cards show global appeal

1499gerrardSoccer is a sport that many collectors probably overlook because it’s not the traditional America-based pastime, but Panini America’s recently released 2015 Panini Select set shows there are a few reasons that they should pay attention.

1000+MessiThere are presently more than 40 cards from the release listed on eBay with asking prices of $1,000 or more. Among the cards that matter even more — the ones that have sold — there are 16 that topped that mark and easily more 30 beyond that topping $500.

Meanwhile these are not super-expensive boxes for a high-end brand. In fact, every box includes three autograph or memorabilia cards and eight Prizm inserts of some type. There were a handful of unsigned parallels among the notable ($500 and up) sales.

Below you’ll see a gallery of cards found and sold by collectors. Every card seen here sold for more than $1,000 on eBay.

Among the signers and memorabilia card subjects in this one are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Andrea Pirlo, Luis Suarez, Mesut Oezil, Gianluigi Buffon and Vincent Kompany, while new signers will include Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ivan Rakitic, Juan Mata, Rui Patricio, Santi Cazorla and Harry Kane to name a few. Meanwhile, there will also is a crop of historic autos that is set to include Franz Beckenbauer, Roberto Baggio, Michael Ballack, Alan Shearer, Oliver Kahn and Christian Vieri.
