What’s Buzz-worthy: Those who buy Contenders here expecting the model of the Draft Picks packs that are loaded with many insert cards per pack will probably be disappointed. While every pack of the Draft version will have multiple inserts in football and the other sports, the NFL version is as simple as it gets. Two inserts and one memorabilia card and that’s it here. … The Rookie Ticket Swatch cards are only found in retail. … The fine print on the boxes shows other parallels and autos possible as well as one insert per pack on average but that wasn’t the case in this particular box. … The memorabilia card was a win for this collector’s taste, but the lack of variety in the box was definitely not very entertaining. (That translates into a low Fun Grade below.) The design, though, is stronger than last year. … If you pull the right player on a memorabilia card or an auto or rarer parallel, though, the boxes can be a win for the price. For a shot at multiple autos and inserts, dig in on a hobby box.
