What’s Buzz-worthy: Those of you who entered the NBA collecting world back when Hoops arrived for the first time back in 1989 will get a hint of those days here with a healthy amount of base cards that carry a decent amount of stats and info on the backs — but not as much as back then. Overall, though, the feel is a basic and retro one here with a meaty base set and a deep checklist that can admittedly make for some dryer rips. That’s where the inserts come in, though it seems this one could use more insert cards per pack. (Typically it’s just one per.) Overall for the price, though, you get a good amount of cardboard and one hit is guaranteed in every blaster box. There are a lot of brands in any sport that give you fewer cards and no hit for the same price. This is the perfect place for beginners or those who like a simpler collecting experience with some potential if you get lucky.
