Topps‘ annual multi-sport (but still baseball) showcase, Allen & Ginter, doesn’t arrive until July, but that didn’t stop the company from teasing four autograph inclusions coming in the 11th edition of the retro-styled set on Tuesday.
The top draw might be tennis star Maria Sharapova, but college football fans might be drawn in by The Ol’ Ball Coach, Steve Spurrier. For boxing fans there’s Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin, a 34-0 middleweight world champ, and for Olympics collectors, there’s four-time swimming gold medalist Missy Franklin.
Franklin previously appeared on five autographed cards in Topps’ 2012 Olympic set, while Golovkin is a first-time signer. Sharapova has roughly 80 previous autos from Tennis and multi-sport brands, while Spurrier has fewer than 40 and none signed in larger volume in nearly a decade.
