The feel-good story of the sports world this year now has some memorabilia to reflect it.
How? NHL All-Star Game MVP John Scott has signed an autograph deal with Fanatics Authentic.
Scott was an NHL journeyman voted into the game by fans before the NHL reportedly asked him to decline the dubious honor. Then, he was traded and demoted to the minor leagues, making him ineligible for the game, before public backlash had him back in the event where he went on to score a pair of goals and take home MVP honors. His story will potentially become a movie with sportswriter Mitch Albom signing on to write the tale.
A dozen items — all All-Star-related — are part of the initial collection of Scott items from Fanatics. A pair of 8-by-10 photos are the cheapest item at $59.99, while the priciest pieces are framed 16-by-20 images at $149.99 and $169.99. You can see the entire collection here.
The 33-year-old’s Rookie Cards can be found in 2009-10 NHL products back when he was a member of the Minnesota Wild. He has a dozen RCs from brands made by Upper Deck — Artifacts, O-Pee-Chee, SP Authentic, SP Game-used, SPx, The Cup, Ultra, Upper Deck, Champ’s Ice, MVP and Victory. He hasn’t appeared on any hockey cards since 2013-14 when Panini America had him in its Score set. Five cards that year — and nothing since.
