There have been bobbleheads, meetings with Hank Aaron, a news conference to address Internet death rumors, an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and plenty of other attention for a bichon frise mix, but there’s about to be a new chapter in the life of Hank, the dog taken in by the Milwaukee Brewers.
He’s getting an official Major League Baseball card.
Topps released the final checklist for its 2016 Topps Opening Day baseball card set on Thursday in advance of its arrival on March 16, and among the 25 cards of mascots was a card for the new Brewers star.
Move over, Bernie Brewer, you have some competition.
For those who don’t know the story of Hank, he was found on the team’s spring training complex in Arizona in 2014 and taken in by the players. He’s become an unofficial mascot and a way for the team to help raise money for animal organizations in and around Milwaukee.
Oh, and the death rumors? Check out Colbert on The Hank Conspiracy.
The 2016 Topps Opening Day baseball card set arrives next Wednesday with a suggested retail price of 99 cents per pack. The mascot cards are inserts found a few times per box.
