The art of a galaxy far, far away can now be found in a new book nearby.
Topps’ Star Wars Galaxy trading cards have been reproduced in a 224-page book that arrived in stores this week.
The hardcover edition of Star Wars Galaxy: The Original Topps Trading Card Series notes the return of Star Wars cardboard back in 1993, a decade after Return of the Jedi. That’s long before the first three films were revamped, re-released in theaters and before the prequels.
With a new generation of Star Wars films on the way via Disney, this is just one of the merchandising possibilities for Topps and cardboard.
More than 170 artists have work showcased here with the complete New Visions series included along with promotional images and a cover by Joseph Smith.
Among the artists with work in the book are Michael Allred, Sergro Aragonés, J. Scott Campbell, Paul Chadwick, Howard Chaykin, Jack Davis, Steve Ditko, Dave Dorman, Dave Gibbons, Jean “Moebius” Giraud, Gil Kane, Sam Kieth, Jack Kirby, Jae Lee, Michael Mignola, Ralph McQuarrie, Jimmy Palmiotti, George Perez, Joe Quesada, Bill Sienkiewicz, Jim Starlin, Dave Stevens and Boris Vallejo to name a few.
The full-color book is 6-by-7.5 inches and carries a cover price of $19.95. It’s published by ABRAMS Books, which teamed up with Topps back in 2011.
