What’s Buzz-worthy: The insert-heavy formula that began with the first edition of Contenders Draft Picks is back — and Buzz loves it once again. It’s not that many of these cards will be all that super-expensive months from now (the short-printed autos will be), but two autographs for less than $20 and a boatload of inserts is fun. There’s nothing but college colors inside — for current NFL players and future NFL Draft picks. … This one’s for the college collector and the guys who want the first cards of the new crop of college prospects who’ll have NFL Rookie Cards soon enough. … The only drawback here (hence the A-) is that there are no basic cards for the rookies except for their autographs — those are numbered part of the extended base set. … Hobby box breakers will find five autographs per box, but this is a way for collectors to chase ink on the cheap. Plus there are likely to be short-prints and the red is likely a Target-only parallel. (Last year, Walmart had blue, Target had red.)
