What’s Buzz-worthy: Opening Day is too often labeled as a kids product but, simply put, this is a collector product. Even in retail blaster boxes there are autographs, there are printing plates, 1/1 parallels, Relics, variations to chase and plenty of inserts. This box was just $9.99 — and it’s not that flashy — so based on this one box at least it might be more fun to rip a hobby box. Either way, you can chase unique hits that include mascot autographs, big autographs of guys like Kris Bryant and other names that have potential. … Among the interesting inserts here is Bubble Trouble — a set focusing on bubble gum — and a card found only one in 36 packs. … This box seemed dull based on its player selection among the inserts save for the Bryant-Cornea combo in the Alternate Reality set. … About the only drawback here generally speaking is the thin stock, otherwise this is a set that can be built master-style without breaking the bank. If you can give this one a try with a hobby box, go for it — but for the price a blaster box just might be fun, too.
