It’s a new brand name with a semi-familiar look, so what should we expect to find in 2016 Topps Legacies of Baseball?
Buzz took a look at the checklist to find out.
First, though, the basics: You get four cards per box for a premium price — one being a metal card, two being autographs and one being an insert.
Twenty players will be included on the Tradition autographs checklist and there are some big ones — Sandy Koufax, Ichiro Suzuki, Hank Aaron — along with some heavily collected ones in Andres Galarraga, Omar Vizquel, Kris Bryant and Buster Posey. For Loyalty autos, there will be 18 players and it appears to be guys who spent plenty of time with one team. Among those will be Craig Biggio, Chipper Jones, Johnny Bench, Mark Prior, Barry Larkin and Brandon Phillips to name a few. For Tenacity autos, there will be 14 players and among them will be Bryce Harper, Jeff Bagwell, Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and Yu Darvish.
The younger players will be showcased on Exhilaration autos, a group that will include Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Francisco Lindor, Bryant, Kyle Schwarber and Mike Trout. Lasting Imprints will look back at past stars and present greats like Chipper, Clayton Kershaw, David Ortiz, Frank Robinson, Frank Thomas, Greg Maddux, Ichiro, Bench, Bryant, McGwire, Trout and Koufax.
The metal set will be 50 cards with big names and some surprises. Sparky Anderson, Jim “Catfish” Hunter, Shawn Green, Eric Karros, Goose Gossage, Tommy Lasorda, Earl Weaver and Kent Tekulve will be found alongside Harper, Schwarber, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Trout and Nolan Ryan to name a few.
