It’s been 39 years since Joe Namath last suited up for an NFL game, but his 1965 Topps Rookie Card remains an iconic one and is among the most-valuable RCs out there.
And a high-grade specimen on eBay right now is going to prove it when the auction ends.
The sale of a PSA 8.5 copy of the short-printed tallboy is active on eBay through PWCC Auctions and it appears poised to set a sales record for the card in its condition.
Only two copies of the card have received the 8.5 grade, while only four total cards have graded higher — all PSA 9s — from the roughly 1,100 copies that have been slabbed by the company.
After 39 bids, it sat at $80,100 — with more than a week remaining in the auction. Update: The card sold for $85,000 after 54 bids.
