When the newest World Wrestling Entertainment trading card set arrives from Topps next week it will include some notable Rookie Cards and some returns of big names in wrestling history we haven’t seen on WWE cardboard in years.
How do we know? Topps released the final checklist for 2016 Topps WWE on Friday in advance of its May 4 arrival.
Among the debuts will be Mandy Rose, NXT Women’s Champion and international superstar Asuka, The Bunny, Apollo Crews, Billie Kay, Carmella, Chad Gable, Dana Brooke, Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, Jason Jordan, Nia Jax and Peyton Royce.
Among the returns? “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Miss Elizabeth, Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, “Dangerous” Danny Davis. Jim Ross, J.J. Dillon, Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, Mike Rotunda (also in the set on a card as I.R.S.), Mr. X, Sensational Sherri and Stevie Ray.
And those are just from the base and NXT sets.
There will be some retail chasing to do with the Triple H Tribute set — card Nos. 11-15 only in fat packs, while 16-20 are only in blaster boxes. The same applies to the Brock Lesnar set.
Among the autographs of note here will be Asuka, Apollo Crews, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Nia Jax, Rikishi, Ric Flair, Sting and “Superstar” Billy Graham. A few of those are first-time signers. Also of note on the checklist will be eight Triple Auto cards — one with Sting/Ric Flair/J.J. Dillion, another with Bayley/Asuka/Nia Jax, one with Seth Rollins/Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns and one with Charlotte/Becky Lynch/Natalya.
A Superstars of Canada auto set will include 10 notables — Chris Jericho, Christian, Edge, Kevin Owens, Natalya, Renee Young, Sami Zayn, Trish Stratus, Tyson Kidd and Viktor.
