Somebody is going to pay dearly for this managerial meltdown.
The sweatshirt and cap worn by Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus on Monday night have hit the auction block via MLB Auctions to benefit the Tiny Tigers tee-ball program funded by the Detroit Tigers Foundation.
And, so far, it looks this one will pay for a few extra tees.
It was the bottom of the fourth on Monday and Ausmus didn’t like a call by home-plate umpire Doug Eddings. After he was ejected, Ausmus kicked dirt on the plate, pulled off his hoodie and used it to cover the plate before tossing his cap on his way off the field. His team later won the game, 10-8.
Will it go down as a legendary moment in Tigers history? Probably not, but it’s the memorable moment of the week and somebody wants a piece of that action.
The auction will close on May 25.
