What’s Buzz-worthy: At first glance, this seems like a simple release — and it is — but there’s something to be said for simplicity and a high-end feel without a high-end price. These boxes include just five cards — three hits — along with an insert and a parallel. In this one, the basic autograph set is the base set and it’s got a good amount of parallels, but they aren’t always obviously spotted except for the serial-numbering. The parallels of the inserts also have that same feel with a subtle change but no numbering. Interestingly, the only numbered card in this box was the Relic, but all of the cards carried a high-end feel with cleanly cut thick stock on all cards and selective use of spot glossing that give these cards more of a Five Star kind of feel without the Five Star price. The use of posed studio photography here helps give this one a more-deluxe feel, while small touches like the four extra diecut windows on the Relic surrounding the main swatch window help enhance the feel. Some decent talent was found here, but it wasn’t the most-expensive cardboard of the bunch — there’s a lot of potential to be found in these boxes, though, especially for the price. If you land the right name, you can do quite well but this, on the whole, seems like a product that could be collected easily, too.
