If you’re a long-time reader of The Buzz, then you already know what makes Nikita Kucherov a bit of a hobby anomaly these days, but now that his Tampa Bay Lightning are a win away from a Stanley Cup Final appearance his trivia is even more important.
He’s one of those players who didn’t have a signed Rookie Card — or at least something — signed and available shortly after he hit the ice. Collectors had to wait for packs of 2015-16 Upper Deck Buybacks to find his rookie ink, though he’s appeared in a handful of releases since that one. In all, he appears on just 16 different autographed cards right now.
He signed just 114 total cards for the buyback brand and 86 of those were his Young Guns card from 2013-14 Upper Deck. He’s since appeared in 2015-16 Upper Deck Contours where he has a Youth Movement auto (/399) and a Gold auto (/10) and in 2015-16 Upper Deck Trilogy where he had five different autos (three of those limited to 16 copies or less). He also is set to be found in 2015-16 Upper Deck Ice with a pair of Glacial Graphs cards.
That’s not much ink to go around for a guy who scored 66 points this season and has 19 points in 15 games this postseason.
