What’s Buzz-worthy: This retro-styled brand is the first A+ Buzz has given because it’s just a crisply made, affordable and impressively printed (though they don’t scan well) and designed football card brand. Sure, it’s got a 1983 Topps feel with the design, but it’s better. This one’s unique with its insert lineup — some perfectly simple uses of foil, which shouldn’t work in a retro brand but do — and overall it doesn’t feel cookie-cutter compared to other brands out there. … The variations are a perfect mix of simple and gimmick — and they can be quite rare. … The checklist is perfectly bolstered with the Legends — though some of the newer players could be argued about — while every pack includes one Rookie Card and two Legends. This box’s RCs were not great and the names on the inserts not amazing, but the cards are. The overall feel of this one was still pretty fun, too. This one just needs more inserts — and it’s also a brand where it’d be nice to see ink in every box but that’s how the hobby version works (just one per). … The retail-exclusive blue-back cards here are nice but don’t really feel like a big deal at all. … If you’re on the fence, check out these boxes with a blaster. If you’re not, dig in with a hobby box. A blaster will only leave you wanting even more.
