Marquise Goodwin chases his Olympic dreams

Marquise-Goodwin-2013-Panini-National-TreasuresYou might have a new reason to go digging through your 2013 football cards after today’s U.S. Olympic track & field trials in Eugene, Ore.

Why? Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin is one step closer to making the U.S. Olympic team in the long jump. Could it spark new interest in the Rookie Cards of this 25-year-old who has recorded just three catches for 66 yards in the last two seasons while also working on special teams?

Maybe, but many might not know that he’s actually been there before.

Marquise-Goodwin-2013-Panini-ContendersGoodwin actually competed for the United States in the 2012 Olympics when he was a University of Texas star and before he was a third-round draft pick. He finished 10th with a jump of 7.8 meters — a mark he topped with a 7.82 on Saturday.

“It would be No. 1, being that I’ve never won an Olympic medal,” he told “I’ve accomplished a lot, but an Olympic medal is something I’ve always dreamed of. The Super Bowl, as well. If I could get two of those, I could probably die right after. God forbid that happened, but I could.”

Despite his lackluster NFL numbers, Goodwin appears on more than 1,200 football cards with more than half of those being certified autographs and nearly half also being memorabilia cards.  He has more than 30 Rookie Cards from 2013 brands and can be found in Panini and Topps products from that season. Of those RCs, a third are autographed with his Contenders card being a potential go-to for many along with his Topps Chrome.

Update: He failed to make the team this year.
