Ichiro Suzuki’s “Journey to 3000” is this week’s Topps #TBT pack

artbb-cckb28-16tbt-10-secondary1.pngThe best players of today on new cards using memorable designs of yesteryear is the point of the 2016 Topps #TBT, an ongoing baseball card set from Topps that has been released one pack a week this summer.

And this week the players are all Ichiro Suzuki and his “Journey to 3,000” that ended on Sunday at Coors Field in Colorado.

Six cards using a subset design from the 1992 Topps set all feature Suzuki. Here’s a rundown:

  1. First MLB hit (TBT card no. 48)
  2. 3000th MLB hit (TBT card no. 49)
  3. MLB record 262 hits in a season (TBT card no. 50)
  4. Inside the park Home Run at all star game (TBT card no. 51)
  5. Hit number 4,257 across Japan/MLB (TBT card no. 52)
  6. Ichiro wins ROY and MVP Same season (TBT card no. 53)

The print runs each week will be revealed after the sales window closes. The first six-card pack will cost $19.99 for one with a discounted price of $49.99 for three. There will be free shipping with Smartpost. These are only initially available on Topps.com.

“Throwback Thursday is a fun way to blend the nostalgia of Topps with the celebration of today’s stars,” said Jeff Heckman, Topps’ Director of New Product Development & eCommerce Marketplace. “We kicked it off with one of the most-popular trading card designs in history, and we have some great themes lined up for coming weeks that will excite baseball fans and collectors.”
