Buzz-worthy Bargain Break: Making a case for five discounted boxes

2015tpfieldaccessFBIf you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices this weekend as part of a 64-hour flash sale over on the mothership and they were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of them.

So much so here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.

2015 Topps Field Access Football Hobby Box (up top)
You may have seen single packs of these cards at Walmarts and other retail stores with a price tag of $19.99 a pack — Blowout blows that out of the water as part of this sale. Every pack includes ink — not always the big names, of course, but there are some top stars in there. The lower this box prices goes, the better an auto per pack gets in terms of fun for your dollars. You probably won’t break the bank with a box of this — but you could land some good stuff.

2015 Topps Star Wars High Tek Hobby Box
There are quite a few different Star Wars brands out there and more on the way, but this is one that guarantees an autograph in every box every time. There are lesser names among those on the checklist but there are also some big names and parallels that make this one of the safer buys in the Star Wars universe. At worst, you have a new autograph in your collection when you dig in here — and you can’t say that about all Star Wars boxes.

2016 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball Hobby Box
The wave of new products that never stops is perhaps one reason why you find this hobby staple here. Allen & Ginter arrived less than a month ago and includes some very strong inclusions from the baseball world and beyond. If you waited, it’s worth the rip.

2016 Tristar Hidden Treasures Series 8 Auto Baseball Box
Simply put, this is an affordable way to add a guaranteed legit autographed baseball to your collection with the potential of it being a very, very good autograph worth much more than the price of a box. It’s a bit less risky than a card box with more potential than most boxes, too. There are a few different packaged memorabilia options in this sale.

2015 In The Game ITG Stickwork Hockey Box
Buzz will readily admit that he’s not a big hockey collector, but the creative cardboard that popped out of these boxes in regards to nothing but game-used hockey sticks was impressive. What’s more impressive? It being half price. There are some cool cards here but there are just three cards per box so it’s a quick rip with a lot of potential.
