Sunday Night Superstars: Week 1 standouts include Andrew Luck, Willie Snead, Spencer Ware & more

CarrCooper

Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders appear to be a bit more powerful this season with an offensive attack that can spar with the best of them.

You know, like Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

The Raiders marched down the field late in the fourth to take a lead and survive 35-34 thanks to a missed field goal form the Saints, but Carr’s 24-for-38 day with 319 yards passing and a touchdown — as well as Amari Cooper‘s six-catch 137-yard day — should give collectors hope. Some lesser-known names got the scores on Sunday (Perhaps Panini Instant will be the first home for a Jalen Richard Rookie Card after his first carry went for a 75-yard TD?) but these two collector favorites will likely get the attention if this is the Raiders’ year to rebound well.

Keep reading for more guys who generated some buzz on the field this week.

willie-snead

— Willie Snead, Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks The Saints’ QB continued to put up ridiculous numbers with 423 yards and four TDs with these two receivers dominating. Snead caught nine passes for 172 yards and a TD, while Cooks caught six for 143 and two TDs. Snead has just one Rookie Card — 2015 Panini Contenders — and just a dozen or so autograph cards and all but two are his Contenders parallels. Cooks’ RCs can be found back in 2014 products, while Brees is a Class of 2001 guy.

2015-Flawless-FB-Jameis-Winston

— Jameis Winston The Tampa Bay Bucs star showed signs of being an elite QB this season with four passing touchdowns in a  31-24 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He completed 23 of 33 passes for just 281 yards but spread the wealth with scores to four different teammates. His Rookie Cards and autos can be found throughout 2015 products.

panini-america-2016-national-nflpa-rookie-premiere-next-day-will-fuller

— Will Fuller We all know the Houston Texans have a new high-priced QB, but the team’s new WR might be the guy with some extra hobby attention after a Week 1 showing that included five catches for 107 yards and a TD. He had the same number of catches as established star DeAndre Hopkins but doubled him on yardage. The rookie out of Notre Dame has cards throughout this season’s products.

ware

— Spencer Ware It took overtime for his Kansas City Chiefs to take down the Chargers, but his team-leading 11 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown and his team-leading seven catches for 129 yards should get people talking. He’s one of those guys who doesn’t have a ton of cardboard but he’s got RCs in 2013 Bowman, Crown Royale, Panini Black, Panini Contenders, Panini Spectra and National Treasures. The last three of those RCs are certified autos and all show him with the Seahawks.

AJGreenRC

— A.J. Green The Bengals’ star WR opened the season with a bang with 180 receiving yards and a TD on 12 passes from Andy Dalton, who went for 366 in a win over the Jets. Green’s Rookie Cards can be found back in 2011 NFL brands.

2016-Panini-Spectra-football-carson-wentz

— Carson Wentz Buzz isn’t totally sold on the No. 2 pick in the draft, but since his Eagles were playing the always-awful Browns he stat sheet doesn’t look bad after Week 1. He completed 22 of 37 passes for 278 yards with two touchdowns. Seven and 114 of those went to Jordan Matthews, who had a TD, while the other score went to Nelson Agholor. The next two games against the Bears and Steelers will be the one that should be interesting when it comes to the rookie.

panini-america-2016-absolute-football-adrian-peterson1

— Adrian Peterson On the not-so-hot side, this Vikings RB figured to be the center of attention with a Vikings team that just lost its star QB. He wasn’t with just 31 yards on 19 carries in a defense-dominating 25-16 win over the Titans. His RCs can be found way back in 2007.

dak-prescott-origins

— Dak Prescott The Dallas Cowboys’ new QB is one rookie to watch no matter what he does. His line on Sunday night? He went 25-for-44 for 227 yards without a touchdown, interception or victory.

2016-Panini-Absolute-Football-auto-Elliott

— Ezekiel Elliott The Dallas Cowboys’ new RB is one rookie to watch no matter what he does. His line on Sunday night? He carried the ball 20 times for 51 yards and touchdown in the third quarter of the Cowboys’ 20-19 loss.

2016-Panini-Phoenix-Luck

— Andrew Luck The Colts’ QB didn’t start strong, but the end result stats-wise is what matters most for a guy known for putting up strong stats when not injured. He’s not injured, so the stats look like this: 31-for-47 for 385 yards and four TDs. His RCs are way back in 2012 wax.

— Need even more Buzz? C.J. Anderson, Trevor Siemian, Cam Newton, Alex Smith, Kelvin Benjamin, Tevin Coleman, Matt Ryan, Mike Evans, Alshon Jeffery, Lamar Miller, Blake Bortles, Melvin Gordon, Matt Forte, Quincy Enunwa, Stefan Diggs, Marcus Mariota, Sterling Shepard, Eli Manning, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, Matt Stafford. (Sunday night games and Monday not included.)
