“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”
That’s one of Yogi Berra‘s famous Yogi-isms and Steiner Sports‘ current auction of the Hall of Famer’s memorabilia includes one item that fits that saying well.
It’s his driver’s license.
Among the more than 100 lots of items in the ongoing auction with slightly more than two weeks to go is the license, which is actually doing pretty well on the block with six bids presently at $807. It’s far from the headliner, which is his 1953 World Series ring that sits at $110,000 after two bids, but it’s an interesting one that more collectors might have a shot at.
Other interesting items in the auction include his lapel pin from his 1972 Hall of Fame induction ($1,735 so far) and his jersey from Game 1 of the 1961 World Series (presently at $45,000). There are signed contracts, his Hall of Fame presentation plaque and induction ring, old credit cards, his Social Security card and many other pieces that are part of the sale, too.
