If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com’s Black November Wave 5 hits today.
Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.
2014 Panini Elite Extra Edition baseball hobby box
There are plenty of autographs to be found in boxes of this one — and there are Hot Boxes that up the ante, too — but right now there’s one autograph that arguably stands out from the rest.
It’s Kyle Schwarber. The Chicago Cubs’ slugger makes his debut here and has a solid amount of available ink inside the wrappers thanks to the standard autos and parallels atop that.
Other signers here include a heavy-selling Trea Turner, Kris Bryant, Byron Buxton, Michael Conforto, Luis Severino and plenty more (though some of those big names are as insert autos). Also in play here is an under-rated Cuban National Team memorabilia card of Jose Abreu with a piece of his national team jersey — that’s quite unique in the hobby aside from World Baseball Classic releases.
At its reduced price, this one’s worth the shot — and it’s not alone.
2014 Topps Strata football hobby box
The singles and the hits here aren’t super-expensive — especially for the guy seen on the box — but the boxes aren’t, super-expensive either. This is a box Buzz has shredded quite a few times and there are a number of things to look out for in there beyond the one acetate jersey auto that’s guaranteed among the three hits. (That’s the key card, though.) This is a bargain rip that can turn into a project if you want to collect ’em all. The affordability there also helps make that a possibility for this colorful brand.

2012 Topps baseball value box
Look closely at the inclusions above and you should note that those are Heritage hobby packs, which are the big draw in these. That means you’ll have a better shot at those tough variations as well as autographs and Relics which can be pretty impressive here if you’re lucky. The 2012 Topps Heritage boxes aren’t as easy to find as you might think so a pair of packs at this price — along with a bonus Refractor only in these boxes and the standard Topps packs that are a nice bonus. A case of these boxes might give you your best shot at some Heritage hits.

2013 Press Pass Gameday Gallery football blaster box
Press Pass is no longer with us — at least in a new cardboard role — but this uber-affordable blaster box guarantees you an autograph every time and there are some memorable names to be found inside these packs to go along with that affordable price. There are also some parallels and ink variations as well as inscriptions that can add to the potential if you rip with some luck.

2014 Topps baseball Mega Box
The Mega Box format is one that is simply fun because you get to sample two sets in one — and the Chrome version of Topps Update is only found here in these boxes where two packs are your only way to experience the brand. If you shred these by the case, then there’s some potential for the biggest names and pulls. The lineup of players on the box show you a hint of what’s to be found at this bargain price.
