A unique gamer from one of MLB’s most-iconic sluggers is among several game-used pieces up for grabs in the latest Goldin Auctions sale.
It’s not a bat used by Roger Maris, Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, Ichiro Suzuki or Alex Rodriguez, but all of those stars’ clubs are up for grabs, too, as part of a series of auctions ending this week.
This one is an MLB-authenticated pink Mother’s Day bat used by recently retired Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz to hit his 512th career home run. The shot from May 8 came off of New York Yankees pitcher Luis Severino and propelled Big Papi past Hall of Famer Mel Ott on the career home run list — it says so right on the bat.
The Papi34 Custom Cut III LDM model Marucci bat has been approved by MLB Authentication for it being the gamer from that night and the autograph and inscription have been witnessed by Fanatics.
The bat is among several notable bats up for grabs in the last Goldin sale and this one already has 18 bids running the price up to $4,500 with more than four days remaining in the auction.
