What’s buzz-worthy: The second wave of the Topps baseball brand — the flagship brand for the hobby — arrives with a modern look and new touches such as stars who have performed the National Anthem at MLB games.
Update: The National Anthem cards didn’t make the final cut and the First Pitch checklist will be revealed at a later time.

The Basics: The basic set will consist of 350 cards with each card having 11 parallels — Gold (/2,017), Rainbow foil, Vintage (/99), Black (/66), Mother’s Day Hot Pink (/50), Father’s Day Powder Blue (/50), Memorial Day Camo (/25), Clear (/10), Negative, Platinum (1/1) and printing plates. … Among the inserts will be Topps Salute (with Red parallels limited to 25 and 1/1 Platinums) and Memorable Moments along with Major League Milestones, First Pitch celebs and National Anthem singers. There also will be 1987 Topps inserts of rookies and All-Stars with Red and Platinum versions, too.
On the autographed Relic front there are Topps Reverence Patches along with Major League Materials that will have Red (/10 or less) and 1/1 Platinum parallels. There also will be Memorable Moments Auto relics and Major League Milestones each with Red and Platinum parallels.
On the autograph-only front, there will be Topps Salute, Memorable Moments and Major League Milestones. Each will have Red and 1/1 Platinum cards. A 1987 Topps autograph set will have a mix of sticker and on-card sigs with a Maple parallel as well as an Ash (/10) and a 1/1 Birch version. There also will be 1/1 cut autographs.
For Relics, there are Major League Materials, Memorable Moments Relics, Major League Milestone Relics and In the Name Relics. All but the 1/1 letters will have Red (/25) and 1/1 Platinum parallels.
There also will be ManuRelics with MLB All-Star Game logos with Gold (/99), Black (/50) and 1/1 Platinum parallels as well as Independence Day team logo patches with the same parallel rainbow. The company also is announcing in advance a silver bonus pack program for those buying via hobby shops with one pack for every hobby box and two for every jumbo box. Cards inside those boxed will be Chrome cards using the 1987 Topps design.
