You can find the autographs from the stars of Star Wars in packs of Topps cards but now you can find them on photographs and more from the newest official source of authentic ink for the legendary sci-fi franchise.
It’s Star Wars Authentics and Topps launched the division and its website, starwarsauthentics.com, on Wednesday to everyone who’s not in a galaxy far, far away.
“We identified a hole in the entertainment industry — a need for certified authentic pieces for the Star Wars brand — and with this collaboration we are able to meet consumer demand,” said David Leiner, Topps’ GM and VP of the North American Sports & Entertainment division. “Topps excels in visual arts and printing technologies and we are thrilled to bring our expertise to Star Wars, building upon our trading card and Major League Baseball memorabilia business.”
The autographs will all be authenticated by Authenticators Inc., which was created by the MLB Authentication program in 2001.
“A quality, authentic experience is something we always strive to deliver for our fans,” said Paul Southern, SVP of Star Wars licensing at Disney Consumer Products. “This new program will allow us to provide Star Wars fans with access to autographs of their favorite talent from a galaxy far, far away that are completely verified and authentic.”
So far, autographs from Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Felicity Jones (pre-order), Donnie Yen and Brian Herring are available and joining them will be Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed among others.
Autographs depend on the size of the photo and the signer but range from $99.99 to $1,049.99 for a 16-by-20 image signed by both Ridley and Boyega.
Unsigned images are available from all eight films with 8-by-10s at $9.99 and 16-by-20s at $19.99 unframed. Framed they are $39.99 and $79.99.
Update (Feb. 23, 2017): Additional autographs have been added to the gallery.
