What’s buzz-worthy: Finest returns to a full hobby release for its 25th edition with some new looks back — at the NBA edition of the brand, for example — and new Wave Autographs in the ink rainbow and more.

The Basics: The base set will have at least eight parallels — Refractor, Purple, Blue, Green, Gold, Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractor. All will be numbered except for the standard Refractors, while an overall set size was not announced. … Finest Careers return for 2017 with two cards per case and this time the diecut inserts will spotlight retired Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz. Those will have Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 Supers as well as autographed versions. … The Finest autos all will be signed on-card along with Finest Firsts that focus on rookies. Each of these will have Blue, Green, Gold, Blue Wave, Red Wave, Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractor versions and all will be numbered (/TBD). Also in the ink lineup will be Finest Finishes autos (one per case) with the same rainbow as the inserts as well as Finest Originals buyback autos. … Three inserts will include Finest Breakthroughs, a 1994-95 Finest basketball design re-do (with autos) and Finest Firsts (rookies). Each will have Orange, Red and Supers as well as ink parallels.
