What’s Buzz-worthy: The main hunt here is for the Rookie Cards of Peyton Manning and Randy Moss, though one of those two names is way more popular now than back then. Others of note here include Charles Woodson, Hines Ward and one of the biggest busts in the history of the league, Ryan Leaf. One of those notable names was found in this pack — and it wasn’t the one people would want. The cards in this pack have held up well — no sticking together in this pack like other brands from around this time — and the design has aged well, though the blank left side (where the MLB set had facsimile autos for this design) still looks weird. To add insult to injury, the Leaf insert card has a wrinkle/bend in the stock that only appears on the back of the card, making a relatively worthless card absolutely worthless. Oh well, it was worth the shot at pulling a Manning RC. Chrome packs offer you just four cards but aren’t dramatically higher in price. It’s a tougher pull, but a Manning there pays off stronger than here. If you want the chase, it’s fun to try — but you can buy graded copies of these cards for modest prices.
