We don’t have all of the details yet, but one of the most-popular video games of the 1980s is getting full artistic honors with a tribute show launching tonight via a Los Angeles gallery.
The game is Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! and the locale is Gallery1988.
It’s the latest show with ties to pop culture and the sports world at the venue and this time it’s several artists taking on the battles of Little Mac — and those are items that could be in big demand from fans and collectors.
The show opens tonight at 7 p.m. for collectors and fans in Los Angeles and the remaining available pieces will be available via gallery1988.com on Saturday. Buzz will update this item then but a gallery of a few teasers can be seen below. Unlike Cuyler Smith’s Trading Cards, this show uses a number of media types and approaches.
One highlight this fan sees is the Super Secret Fun Club‘s take on Little Mac (up top) — these small vinyl sculpts and the packaging they arrive in are pretty sweet.
Update: A sampling of works is in the gallery below. You can see everything here.
