What’s buzz-worthy: Topps’ long-running sci-fi franchise is back on cardboard with a factory set offering that includes some surprises that could excite fans of the brand as its 55th anniversary is here.

The Basics: Each box includes 25 Green parallels and two hits with a 110-card base set, which tells a new story set five years after the original tale. This one includes 55 painted illustrations by Fred Harper and Layron DeJarnette and 55 penciled pieces from Brent Engstrom as the base set. Other parallels with this one include Yellow (/199), Red (/99), Black (/55), Bronze (/25), Silver (/10) and Gold (/2). … Sketch cards will be found with standard types as well as puzzle sketches that make up a main image with four cards, shaped sketch cards cut to look like a flying saucer and panoramic sketches that are two-card books. … Additional hits include medallion cards found in a saucer or ray gun as well as potentially the biggest hit, autographs from series co-creator Len Brown. Also in play? Artist autographs and printing plates.
