What’s Buzz-worthy: The main mission with these packs? Landing a Kris Bryant Rookie Card on the cheap — and that was accomplished. Why? Hobby and even retail boxes of this one are drying up so they, unfortunately, aren’t getting any cheaper. While I’d normally just chuck cards like the Call Your Shot contest into the garbage with wrappers, one had been good for $10 off of a factory set — a card that was found one in every 1,000 packs. (Could this be a card that master set collectors seek? I’m not sure … but maybe.) Another interesting off-radar inclusion here are the Gold Ripken cards, which are pretty scarce in online auctions vs. the standard cards and uncatalogued in some circles. It’s a simple parallel but one that’s only available in these packs, making them rarer than those found in all packs as part of the run. One plus also seen here? The fact that parallels are found in these packs — and that means key cards like Bryant’s can be found in parallel form here, too. They won’t be easy pulls, but they’d be profitable if found here. You won’t find them too easily but there are also autographs and memorabilia cards to be found in these packs, too.
