What’s Buzz-worthy: This is Buzz’s first crack at this brand via its hobby format where there’s an autograph in every jumbo pack. (That started last year for this long-running brand.) Simply put, I think it works because you get a mess of Rookie Cards and inserts in every pack and that’s really what most of us are ripping for along with the hits. It’s a 300-card set with the last 100 being new NFL rookies in college action photos but with their new NFL teams noted via logos and color scheme for the cards’ name bars. With strong photos, that works. The veteran mix seemed dry at spots here, perhaps due to a 2oo-card set, but the overall ripping experience was meaty even if you didn’t land some of the top names in a particular pack. This box delivered well with a few top rookies and some rarer parallel autos with the Sherman being one that gives this box a perfect grade. (He only signed 26 total cards for the product.) To some collectors, there may be too much college cardboard here — so they’ll be feasting on NFL sets to come this season — but if you like the college game and the NFL this one feels pretty well-balanced and feels like a highlight so early on in this season.
