What’s Buzz-worthy: A newcomer on the gaming side is this MLBPA-approved release that has a scratch-off code on the back of every single card — even the 1/1s — that can allow that player to be entered into a fantasy lineup for prizes online. It’s a good idea that creates a collecting conundrum — do you scratch and play them or keep them mint? The depth of the set and the fantasy roster needs also in a way influence who’s good in a pack — on-field performance matters more than hype there. The fantasy play factor here expires on Oct. 1 (unless cards could be eligible for next season) so ripping and playing cards could be a winner in the short-term — at least for the cards that aren’t rare. Another fun plus here? You can send in your 24 wrappers for a free Career Milestone 1/1 card — something Buzz will do soon. The 1/1s are based on players’ career stats so a guy like Ichiro Suzuki (3,030 1/1s here) is an easier find than say, Dansby Swanson (just three 1/1s). If you’re a player collector and your player is found in these packs, this is a fun necessity that won’t break the bank to add to your stash. If you want something interesting, fun and with some online fantasy gaming potential, this is your box. The only other chase cards in play here? Sketch cards. Fun stuff.  Also fun? The potential for a single card inside a box like this paying for all of them — something that can help you pay for more to collect or more to play in fantasy.

Product Grade: A
