“Come and play with us, Danny … forever … and ever.”
The Funko Pop! line’s newest slightly twisted toys were revealed on Thursday with the stars of Stephen King‘s The Shining among the toys coming from the Everett, Wash.-based company next month.
The 1980 Stanley Kubrick-directed psychological horror film starred Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, the caretaker of the Overlook Hotel, which has a persona of its own that overcomes Torrance and his family as they are alone there for the winter.
The Funko lineup includes three standard toys, one (spoiler!) frozen variant and then a two-pack of The Grady Twins, murdered children that Torrence’s son, Danny, sees while riding his tricycle through the hotel. That two-pack is only found at Target and it will have a variant as well.
An extra touch on the packaging? The plastic window is splattered with blood and has “REDRUM” written on it — an homage to Danny’s psychological powers overloading and his issues with the Overlook manifesting in a statement better understood by spelling the word backward.
Update: That ‘s not the only horror Pop! toys or Dorbz from the company for this or other franchises. Later Thursday, it revealed a dozen more upcoming toys, which have been added in the gallery below.
