What’s Buzz-worthy: This high-end brand is one that’s ultimately about the cut autographs two per case but there are also boxes that have other ink and then boxes like this that are only memorabilia. This one, however, delivered an extra hit with all three players being notable names in MLB history. To me, especially with Maris, that’s a win. As said in a previous break of this product here, this is a perfect example of how the hobby has changed in just a decade. This box was a somewhat high-end release then at $10 a pack with the main draws being two cut autographs in every 16-box case with two hits and two numbered cards in every box. The numbered Lineage cards are short-printed base cards, while the Americana cards are inserts of non-baseball people in the wake of the 2006 explosion of non-sports subjects finding their ways into MLB sets. There’s massive potential in the cuts lineup — literally the biggest names possible in the history of the game — while the typical boxes have some of the smallest memorabilia swatches this collector has ever seen in a product. … The base set is loaded with big names from the past, too, but it’s a small basic set of 100 cards that can be built with a couple of boxes. It’s nice but it’s been topped in all ways — except the cuts — in the decade since.
