What’s Buzz-worthy: Football draft classes don’t always age well and this one is probably an example of that but there are still at least two names of note in this box. The Hopkins auto is probably the highlight now but the Griffin jersey — a college (Baylor) game-used jersey per the card back — would have paid for the box (maybe more) back when this one arrived based on its scarcity. Now? Not that much demand — but it’s still a “name” and a rare card. These boxes are an interesting rip with nothing but autos and a memorabilia card and they carry a nice high-end feel with foil-stamped acetate. The autos show no aging issues on the plastic (always a concern to this collector) in this one, which is a relatively simple release due to the lack of NCAA licensing. The price makes this one to consider and the fact that there’s a Hot Box one in every 10 boxes (half-case) that has 10 autos instead of six. You won’t break the bank tearing these boxes (Hot or regular) but you will have a decent amount of stuff afterward for not a lot of money — and that’s something worth considering if you’re a fan of college football. This might be a fun and simple product to build the entire set, too.
