It’s a simple autograph signed years ago with a ballpoint pen on what was likely an index card, but it’s a piece of hobby history.
It’s Pat Tillman‘s first certified autograph and it’s going to be pulled by someone soon from a pack of 2017 Donruss Certified Cuts.
Tillman, a former member of the Arizona Cardinals and a star for Arizona State, left the NFL in 2002 to become a member of the U.S. Army where he served in Afghanistan before he was killed in 2004.
He appears on just five previous NFL cards — all from 2001 — and can be found in the Fleer Tradition, Fleer Tradition Glossy, NFL Showdown, Upper Deck MVP and Upper Deck Rookie F/X sets. He also appears on a card issued for the College Football Hall of Fame back in 2011.
Certified Cuts arrives next week with four autographs or memorabilia cards per box and at least two cut autographs per case.
