What’s Buzz-worthy: When I spotted this one in a retail discount bin, I figured it might be a fun retro trip back to just after the dark ages where we ended up with two rookie classes in one after a lockout. Rookie Cards are about all that was in this one — Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and Klay Thompson among the notables — but I was a bit shocked to see only four inserts in a blaster with so many packs. (Hoops blasters in years after this one include plenty of inserts and even guaranteed hits.) This break was a bummer but there is hope if you rip hobby as there are glossy parallels where RCs can get you some decent money back as well as autographs — and some rookie ink is in there, too. The biggest rookies here include Kyrie Irving — his cards could be in more demand now with a new location in the league — along with Damian Lillard and Anthony Davis. The standard RCs here are relatively cheap across the board, making this a good set for a beginner or somebody who wants to dabble on the cheap. With hobby boxes at their current prices and these blasters being so barren, the hobby box is the only way to go here.

Product Grade: B
Box Grade:
C- (even blasters need way more than this)
Fun Grade: C- (rip a hobby box … and it will be much better)
