What’s Buzz-worthy: The new wave of Star Trek movies (the 2009 reboot and its 2013 sequel) get the focus in this one with a pair of sets in one. The standard set is for Star Trek Into Darkness, while a much more challenging 110-card set is found just nine times per box. You get six numbered parallels here with gold or silver foil as simple but scarce additions to your box that will help add value as people work to complete those. The two autographs here weren’t great — a security guard and the long-faced alien that fans should remember from the films — but the autograph possibilities here are very, very strong. You can land Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Simon Pegg and many more. They’re probably relatively tough pulls since the boxes are cheap, but they are in there. And that’s enough for me to try this one at least one more time, maybe more. (Don’t be shocked if this one shows up in a future Buzz 12 in 12 marathon or a later Buzz Break.) All in all this wasn’t a great box, but I really like the cardboard documentary that is this release and some of those autos are must-haves.
