What’s Buzz-worthy: By the time this one arrived from Topps, Star Wars had been a cardboard powerhouse for more than half a decade and this third film got two series of cards and stickers. Ripping into this pack was a reminder of how oldschool Topps cards can be — and makes me appreciate the new wave of Star Wars cards made today a bit more. (Same retro design, better printing and cutting technology as well as cleaner cardboard stock.) One card in here is permanently marred by the gum, while a second one came creased in three spots despite being fresh from the pack. Meanwhile, others from the pack have snow on their bright red borders. There weren’t many of the character cards in this pack — I consider those among the highlights here — or many appearances from key characters in the galaxy far, far away. The Leia sticker is probably the biggest highlight but even it has some roller marks on the front and a soft corner from years of time inside a wax box. Your best bet here is likely to pick off a set already completed and upgrade any singles that might not be clean enough for your collection. I like Jedi but not really the results from this pack.
