What’s buzz-worthy: Optic takes to the gridiron with a familiar look for 2017 Donruss NFL fans and a familiar format for those who ripped into this brand hard last season.

The Basics: We’ll have more hobby details once this one is formally unveiled, but here’s what we know know for the retail front. … There will be two Pink parallels of Rated Rookies or standard RCs per box, while new inclusions in Optic vs. standard Donruss will include AKA — a nickname set with past and present stars — and Illusions. There also will be a 1981 Tribute set that should be familiar to Donruss rippers. … Packs will include four cards in blasters with the typical box including four parallels, six rookies and two inserts. … Blasters will carry a suggested retail price of $20.
Update (hobby info): In addition to the auto, collectors can expect to find 10 Rookie Cards, 10 Rated Rookies RCs, 10 Holo parallels and four inserts per box. Rated Rookies will have on-card autos limited to no more than 150 copies per player and also in the mix will be Rookie Patch autos (/20 max), dual autos, triple autos and Fans of the Game autos. There also will be a number of insert sets — The Elite Series, The Legends Series, 1981 Tribute, Inducted and Gridiron Kings — along with 1981 Donruss Tribute Autos, Illusions and AKA cards. … The full rainbow for this one will include base, Holo, Aqua (/299), Orange (/199), Blue (/149), Red (/99), Purple (/50), Black (/25), Gold (/10), Green (/5) and 1/1 Gold Vinyl cards. … There also will be Gridiron Kings autos with cards limited to no more than 10 copies but with parallels as well as Inducted autos for new Hall of Famers (also /10) with parallels. … Boxes carry a suggested retail price of $85 ($4.25 per pack).
