The Chicago Cubs may not be playing right now, but the memories of last season’s historic World Series win are still fueling demand for unique pieces of memorabilia.
And it might not get more unique than an MLB-authenticated piece of the famed ivy from Wrigley Field.
Just 2,016 displays were created by Chicago Cubs Charities last fall and each of them had an MLB Authentication sticker placed on a leaf pruned from The Friendly Confines before it was permanently placed in an acrylic display noting the World Series season.
The displays come with a serial-numbered certificate and a limited number of them are available now via MLB Auctions as a buy-it-now price of $200 per piece. While that may sound a bit steep for those without a green thumb or without time supporting the franchise, these pieces are another story. A total of 13 of these displays have sold in recent months on eBay for between $350 and $220.
Among active auctions, they’re carrying asking prices as high as $400 depending on the visual quality of the treasure inside the acrylic. The cheapest listing? A mere $349.
