Black November Wave 4 is here … and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as is in the midst its Black November sales now.

Wave 4 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2016 Topps Heritage Minor League Baseball hobby box
You may not recognize the uniforms here but they’re creative — and wearing them are names you should know with guys like Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins on the checklist. The crop of players here is pretty strong and so is the signers list in a product that takes the 1967 Topps design back to the minor leagues. Atop the signers list that includes Dansby Swanson, Andrew Benintendi, Alex Bregman, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout for starters, they’re all on-card autographs here. A couple of boxes should get you a basic base set and a number of the inserts that this one includes. It’s a simple but fun break and you can see a sample box here.

Women of Star Trek 50th Anniversary box
It’s arguable which of the biggest long-running sci-fi Star franchises is biggest — Wars or Trek — or which one has the richest cardboard history, but with three autographs and one memorabilia card in every box this product focusing on the female stars of Star Trek is worth a look. There are more than 50 signers in this one — a crop that includes Vanessa Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Marina Sirtis, Jeri Ryan, Yvonne Craig and Kristanna Loken to name a few. There are also sketch cards found one per 12-box case.

2014 Panini Hall Of Fame 75th Anniversary baseball box
For its anniversary, Panini took its Cooperstown brand high-end with a box that includes two autographs and a number of modern-day inserts to offer some flash on the legends of the past. Cases include cut autos, gem cards and one Crusade diecut every time and there are buyback autos to be found along with plenty of serial-numbered cards. There are a lot of cheaper cards to be found here, making this more of a “for fun” kind of break, but there’s still some serious potential in the mix here, too, if you land the right name on the right kind of rarer card. Oh, and to remind you of the obvious … every card here is of a Hall of Famer.

2013 Panini Prestige football hobby box
You’ll land at least two autos in every four-hit box here and it’s one that’s got a lot of variety among inserts that include acetate diecuts and plenty of young stars. You’ll land a rookie in every pack and an insert in nearly every pack, too. The rookie crop here isn’t the flashiest these few years layer, bit there’s still a number of reasons to dig in once it’s this affordable — and the popular rookie class the year before this one has a good presence here, too.

2013 Panini Hometown Heroes baseball hobby box
This one was a one-and-done in the new wave of baseball brands from Panini, arguably because its price was more high-end vs. the retro and simplicity that it delivered. Now that it’s a cheap box to break we can focus on the fun — and if we land something of note, that’s cool, too. There are three autos per box here with a mix of memorable players from the past and true legends. Ink from Nolan Ryan, Manny Machado and Ryne Sandberg can be found here alongside the likes of Kent Hrbek, David Eckstein and Johnny Damon. Inserts here include diecut Sportdiscs, State and Zip Code parallels to note those hometown ties and a number of fun cards that are different than other places.

There’s plenty more among the Black November sale items in the new (and past) wave — check ’em out here — and we’ll have several more to come leading up to Black Friday. Buzz will be here each time to pick highlights and budget breaks from the bunch.
