If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales now.
Wave 7 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.
2013-14 Panini Prestige NBA wax boxes and cases
This isn’t a high-end brand but it’s one that packs two autographs and two memorabilia cards in every box with roughly 20 insert cards, too. The key here? Giannis. His autographs are in here. His Rookie Cards are in here. He’s such a big deal, he doesn’t even need his long last name mentioned here. (Yes, I can spell it … Antetokounmpo.) If you land his auto, it can pay for at least a third, if not half of the case. This is a brand where you can also land the likes of Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant ink (among others) and there’s plenty of stuff in there — especially if you go with a volume buy with the low sale price.
2015 Panini Prizm baseball wax boxes and cases
With 20 boxes per case, it’s a bit harder to tear into this one in volume but there’s definitely reasons to. Among them? Easily attainable autographs of Kris Bryant, Aaron Judge and Corey Seager — just for starters — and you get two shots per box. The rookie crop here is meaty — and so are the parallel options that can add to the return on a break — but there are also autos from MLB veterans and USA Baseball autos that can get more than you might think. Even if you don’t land a big name, this one is a fun rip at a cheaper price.

2014 Topps UFC Champions hobby boxes
There are five hits per box here and the autograph lineup does include big names such as Ronda Rousey, Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre among others. I don’t do a ton of UFC but the possibilities here — and the price — make this one tempting just from a collector perspective. If you land bigger names, you’re winning.

2009 Wheels Main Event racing gravity feed retail boxes (and cases)
While I’m only 99-percent sure this is the product, the poker theme here is one that allows me to relay a fun fact from the past that may not be that well-known. Among your possible finds here? Driver-worn sunglasses that were wedged into the tops of some of these gravity boxes. There weren’t too many to go around, so your odds aren’t that high of landing one — especially all these years later — but a high-ranking person at Press Pass told me years ago that glasses went into a product in that way. (And, again, I’m 99-percent sure this is it.) How would retail stores handle the finds? That’s a whole other question. The combined auto and mem odds for standard retail packs of this brand are one in 96 packs each, meaning there should be roughly one hit per box. (I’m buying a sealed case for fun.) If sunglasses aren’t your thing, some hobby boxes of this one included race-used spark plugs as box-toppers and there also were autographs from some iconic pro poker players, too, such as Doyle Brunson. I have no idea if his made it into retail — but will let you know if I find one.
