What’s Buzz-worthy: Here’s another one of this one … as said before, Panini America’s Donruss brand is one that I’ve shredded often this year and this is an early look at the Optic version of the line that gives everything an Optichrome look and includes what are called Holo parallels on the box but marked as Prizms on the card backs. (I’m going with Prizms.) This box wasn’t the flashiest when it comes to player selection, but it still gets a decent grade thanks to the hit. Weirdly, all but two base cards were the same as the other box we opened here last week. Compared to the Prizm brand’s blasters — we broke our latest one here recently — this seemed to deliver so much more in terms of variety and newcomers. What makes this a Special Edition box? It appears that the Pink parallels for Rated Rookies and Rookie Cards are only found here along with a hit in every box. (Standard blasters have more Pinks but no guaranteed hit.) If you liked what Donruss includes like I do, then these boxes are a no-brainer. It should be interesting to see how these break on the hobby side later this week.
