What’s buzz-worthy: We’ve got early word on what’s coming to the retail aisle from Panini America in 2018, and it’s the newest crop of Diamond Kings will be the second set to arrive next March.

The Basics: Blaster boxes will carry a suggested retail price of $19.99 and will be the only way to get this brand at retail. They’ll include five cards per pack (35 cards per box) with the three retail-only cards including Mickey Mantle Collection inserts, red Artist Proof cards and blue framed parallels. In addition to three inserts from those, there will be one short-print, one variation and five other inserts per box — so 10 inserts/short-prints and 25 base cards. … According to Panini, this will be its first product to include autographs and memorabilia cards from a 2018 rookie crop that includes Rhys Hoskins, Rafael Devers, Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith to name a few. This also will be its only retail brand where memorabilia from past legends such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Stan Musial, Roberto Clemente and Mickey Mantle will be found. … While we’ll have more images and details to come for this one at a later date, this one will include 50 short-printed cards (up from 25 this year) and new variations that will include Sepia, Black & White and Name sets.
