What’s Buzz-worthy: This box was going to appear in the next Buzz 12 in 12 — it’s admittedly one of my go-to rips — but since my Flu-cation™ kicked in, there wasn’t energy for box hunting and so here we are. As said in a previous break of this, Panini America’s most-recent edition of Americana is a fun bargain rip these days at a fraction of its original price ($25 for this box vs. $100 or more upon release). If you’re a regular reader of The Buzz, you’ll know this is my second time being Smiley-ed — but at least this box made up for it with a Mickey Rourke autograph (and ironically a Chris Jericho insert of note for those who know WrestleMania 25 history). There also were highlights with Jimmy Stewart memorabilia (not that rare but iconic) and some name power among the inserts. The rest was relatively standard — and that’s still not that bad for the price. (At its current price, the 10-box cases are worth considering because there are some strong names on the auto checklist — anyone on a base card also has an auto.. The autograph lineup leans toward today — much more so than previous Americana releases — and the prices on a lot of singles aren’t huge, but that makes them all a tad more collectable. If you can find hobby boxes cheap, it’s definitely worth the rip just to add some variety to your autograph collection. And once the wax vanishes? Well, there will be some even better values to be seen.
