What’s Buzz-worthy: Want one of the most-unique and well-crafted products of the last decade? It just might be this one, a one-and-done release focusing on the stars of PBR rodeo — and that includes bullriders, bullfighters, an entertainer (clown) and the bulls themselves. The first 40 cards of the set are for riders of the past (Ring of Honor) and present and then five bullfighters and a clown who help protect the riders, 29 cards of notable bulls, 11 Luck of the Draw cards spotlighting riders vs. certain bulls, and finally a 15-card subset The Short-Go that spotlights riders. Design- and photo-wise, this is a well-crafted set with some smart touches. Hobby boxes of this one include six hits — three autos and three mem — and these typically include more than just standard cards with ink-color variations and inscriptions and memorabilia cards that can feature pieces of memorabilia that aren’t the norm. On the card backs you’ll see the items that made their way into the cards, too. There are only a couple of insert sets in this one — one embossed and one foilboard that add a little bit of a chase here but they’re overshadowed by the basic cards and the hits. This particular box included ink from a former world champion and a guy who’s finished in the top-five seven other years, Guilherme Marchi, and appearances by two guys with some of the most-unique names in sports, Skeeter Kingsolver and Ryan Dirteater. The biggest name here for ink and hits is Ty Murray, a Hall of Famer who was formerly married to musical Jewel Kilcher, but there are others whose ink may command more than you might think now that this wax isn’t as easily found.
