It’s time for the college hardwood to come to National Treasures.
That time is Thursday when 2016-17 Panini National Treasures Collegiate basketball arrives with a high-end take on the college game with some of the biggest names of the past mixed with the stars of the present.
What: 2016-17 Panini National Treasures Collegiate basketball cards
Arrives: Jan. 4
Box basics: Six autographs or memorabilia cards along with two base cards or parallels per box (four boxes per case)
What’s buzz-worthy: National Treasures hits the college ranks with an offering that Panini says is “tailor-made for the high-end hoops collector.”

Base cards are becoming less and less of a find in high-end brands but Panini America has helped keep them on the minds of basketball collectors this year with photo variations in 2015-16 Panini Gold Standard.
And the company has disclosed which variations are the toughest pulls from the high-end product.
When collectors crack into boxes of 2015 Panini Immaculate Collection College beginning tomorrow, they could find one of the more unique memorabilia cards made in a long time.
It’s a card of baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn from his days as a player at San Diego State.
What makes it different, though? The card appears to include a swatch from the Aztecs jersey seen above.
